Know Where to Go

With so many care options, it is easy to feel confused when it comes to when, where and how you can receive the care you need. It’s important not to delay care and instead plan now for if and when medical concerns do arise in the future. After all, your healthcare needs can’t afford to take a back seat.

Fortunately, there are many avenues for care and resources in place to help you including virtual care options, clinical care, urgent care and emergency care services. Each point of care has a different purpose and understanding them now can help you save time and money in the future.

Primary Care Provider

If you are experiencing a mild to moderate health concern such as a cold, headache or an issue brought on by a chronic condition, your first call should always be to your primary care provider (PCP). Over the phone or through email, your PCP can direct you to the right point of care, schedule an in-office visit if necessary or even set up a virtual appointment to assist you.

If you are an Allina Health | Aetna member and don’t currently have a PCP, don’t worry, we can help! Visit the member portal to find the right in-network PCP for you for the most cost-efficient care.

Virtual Care Provider

Telehealth services provide real-time, convenient care from medical experts who conduct appointments through video, mobile applications or audio, right through your phone, computer or tablet. Telehealth consultations may be with your provider or provided by vendors like 98point6®.

Telemedicine can support both acute and chronic conditions such as allergies, infections, diabetes and even behavioral health services like MDLive or AbleTo.

To find a list of providers in your network that offer telehealth services, call Allina Health | Aetna’s member services number on the back of your ID card, visit the member portal or connect with your PCP directly to schedule a virtual visit.

Walk-In Clinic

Sometimes you really can’t wait to get in touch with your PCP before seeking care. When you need a same-day appointment, visiting a local walk-in clinic can be your most efficient option. Walk-in clinics can support mild to moderate conditions such as rash, ear infections and cold or flu-like symptoms.

Allina Health | Aetna’s network is enhanced by several convenient, local care options that feature extended hours and walk-in availability. Options include:

  • Allina Health Everyday Clinics: More affordable care options with trusted, neighborhood convenience. Allina Health Everyday Clinics can be found around the Twin Cities inside several Hy-Vee grocery stores.
  • MinuteClinic®: High-quality health care services at low or no cost can be found within select CVS Pharmacies or Target stores.
  • CVS® HealthHUB™: As an expanded MinuteClinic® experience, CVS® HealthHUB™ brings dedicated clinical teams into the community that can act as an extension of a member’s care team, supporting them between doctors’ visits or after hours. CVS® HealthHUBs™ can help address health challenges that lead to higher health care costs down the line.

You can use the Doc Find tool to find local, in-network walk-in clinics near you. If you have a specific question or concern, members can also call the Allina Health | Aetna 24-hour Nurse Line at any time at 1-800-556-1555.

Urgent Care

When you can’t reach your PCP or access a walk-in clinic, visit your local Urgent Care clinic. Urgent Care clinics offer services such as imaging or lab testing and support care for wounds, sprains, nausea and more.

To find local, in-network Urgent Care clinics near you visit the Allina Health | Aetna Doc Find tool or call the 24-hour Nurse Line at 1-800-556-1555.1

If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency always call 911 or visit your local emergency room immediately.

When you are feeling sick, don’t delay care. Allina Health | Aetna helps you connect to the resources you need. Whether in-person or virtual, there are health care professionals ready to assist you.

1 While only your doctor can diagnose, prescribe or give medical advice, the 24-hour Nurse Line can provide information on a variety of health topics.
