Allina Health | Aetna Names New Chief Medicare Officer

Christopher Tinney was promoted to lead the health group’s Medicare Advantage growth and delivery of high-quality plans to Minnesotans

St. Louis Park, Minn., — Sep. 09, 2023  — Allina Health | Aetna is pleased to announce the promotion of Christopher Tinney to Chief Medicare Officer. Tinney previously served as Allina Health | Aetna’s Lead Director, Stars and Risk Adjustment, contributing to the plan’s success by delivering 4+ Star ratings and enhancing coding accuracy and patient satisfaction.

In his new role, Tinney will continue to advance the company's commitment to providing high-quality, value-based care to Medicare Advantage members throughout Minnesota.

Tinney will be responsible for leading the Allina Health | Aetna Medicare Advantage strategy, growing local membership, enhancing member and provider engagement, managing departments involved in the development of benefits and implementing innovative products to enhance the member experience.

Tinney’s accomplishments include:

  • 25 years of experience in healthcare management, including with major insurers Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama and Cigna
  • Led strategic initiatives to drive star ratings and risk adjustment, aligning with Aetna Medicare's best practices
  • Championed the implementation of national and localized strategies
  • Maintained a 4+ star rating over three years
  • Developed targeted training for providers, enhancing coding accuracy and patient satisfaction
